Our Faith Formation program is intended for families with children attending public school in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Faith Formation at St. Columbkille has evolved from a weekly Wednesday night classroom model (what you may have previously known as Religious Education or CCD) to an at-home, ‘growing together as a family’ model. Our Faith Formation content is aligned with our parish mission statement: God CALLS us to be disciples and FORMS us by our Catholic Faith to ENCOUNTER Christ, EMBRACE deeper faith and EMPOWER Christian action.
Our Faith Formation families gather once a month from September through April in Presentation Hall at 6:00 p.m. on the scheduled dates. For a schedule of our gatherings this year, please contact Alice Noethe at [email protected].
This program is prepared and carried out in a way that parents initiate discussion in the home with the topics that we present, and lead their family by example. A parent's faith carries their young children and this program is not just for children, it is for parents!
This year we continue the focus of our Parish Mission by focusing on Empowering Christian Action with families. We will be doing this through the five components of our program - the Saints, Prayers, Presentations, Corporal/Spiritual Works of Mercy and a topic presented by a parishioner or staff member each month. We would like to lead our families this year to feel Empowered through the foundational aspects of our faith like the Mass, the Sacraments, Prayer and Scripture, just to name a few. We also put a strong emphasis on attending Mass each weekend as a family. We are excited to offer a Teaching Mass again this year. We hope you'll join us for the program!
